People rarely search for the doshas. They search for help with sleep, digestion, skin, hair, stress and tiredness. This section takes those everyday topics one at a time. For each, it explains what the classical texts and later teachers say, labelled as tradition, and what the US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) and MedlinePlus say where they speak on the subject.
Every page keeps to the same promises. We describe daily habits only. We do not prescribe herbs, give doses or recipes for medicines, or claim that anything treats, cures or prevents a disease. Each page ends its main text with a list of the signs that need a doctor, and a reminder that for Ayurvedic treatment you should see a registered practitioner.
The pages in this section:
- Sleep: nidra, the tradition’s view and habits shared with modern guidance.
- Digestion: agni and the eating habits of the texts.
- Skin: twak, gentle care and when to see a doctor.
- Hair: kesha, scalp care and the signs of medical hair loss.
- Stress: the mind in the tradition and calming habits.
- Energy and tiredness: bala, ojas and steady daily habits.
- The seasons of life: childhood, adulthood and older age.
- Eating out and travel: habits away from home.
If you are new to the ideas used here, start with the daily routine, the doshas and the body. Please read the medical disclaimer and see a doctor for any health concern, especially for any of the signs listed on each page.
